What Rabobank achieved with EBX®
- Substantial coverage in 18 months: a large share of global reference data, hundreds of tables, moved from spreadsheets and email into one governed platform.
- A handful of people now maintain a consistent reference-data standard for an organisation of nearly 50,000 employees.
- Self-sufficient by design: Rabobank models and implements in EBX® itself, staying close to standard functionality and reducing dependence on external consultants.
Replace spreadsheets and email with controlled reference data
Country, postal, currency, industry and organisational codes are used across a large bank. At Rabobank, reference data was maintained through manual processes with no consistent structure for ownership, supervision and distribution.
Excel lists and email-based updates increased effort and contributed to inconsistencies in downstream reporting. Rabobank needed a platform and operating model that could improve quality while fitting its mix of group divisions, business units and departments.
Why Rabobank chose EBX®
- Fit for “centralise where necessary, decentralise where possible”: group-wide codes governed centrally while local units keep their variations.
- Usability proven in a proof of concept with Systemation in 2017, focused on how business users would manage data day to day.
- Low technical overhead: a small internal team installs, models and deploys EBX® with minimal reliance on external consultants.
- Stewardship, workflow and hierarchy management out of the box, replacing email-driven spreadsheets with a role-based, auditable platform.
“The convenience of the platform enabled Rabobank to install, model and implement EBX on its own.”
